About Companions Brisbane
Everyone needs friends and this includes people living with mental illnesses. Did you know that up to 63% of mental illness sufferers are lonely, or isolated and up to 52% have difficulty making and maintaining friendships? These statistics are heartbreaking and need to change. Companions Brisbane is a friends group for those who have experienced, or are experiencing mental illness. We host fun events every week on either a Saturday, or a Sunday throughout Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast. We are a not-for-profit, free public group who has received backing from staff and Doctors of Nundah House and Queensland Health.
A message from our founder
Hello, my name is James Dzintarnieks and I am the founder and team leader of Companions Brisbane. It is my view that friendships are absolutely essential in this world and everyone needs friends. Unfortunately, some people have experienced mental illness and this has made finding and maintaining these difficult. We are here to help people form long-lasting, happy memories with others.
